Drop-off
Where your driver stops
In Soldeu the main street runs along the CG-2 and the gondola station is in the middle of it. Your driver stops at the door of your hotel or, if it is easier, as close to the lift as the traffic allows, so you can store skis in the hotel ski room and walk down in your boots the next morning.
In El Tarter the lifts start right next to the road and several hotels have ski-in access. Ransol, across the river, is reached by a short side road: give us the exact address of your apartment and we drop you there.

The road
The CG-2 climb, in winter
From the capital it is about 25 km of valley road through Encamp and Canillo, with bends and some steeper stretches. It is the main road of the country and is cleared quickly, but heavy snowfall slows everyone down. On those days the authorities can make chains or winter tyres compulsory on some stretches; your driver follows their instructions and keeps you informed of the arrival time.
Saturdays are changeover days: the valley fills with families arriving and leaving. If you can choose, a Friday or Sunday flight is usually calmer at the border.
Before you ski
Lift pass, ski room and hire
Buy the Grandvalira lift pass online before you travel and collect it at the ticket offices or machines in Soldeu or El Tarter. What vehicle do I need?
Count everyone and every bag. Ski bags, snowboards and big suitcases are one item each; two cabin bags or two boot bags count as one. The boot fills up as you add them, and the price comes live from our booking engine.
